Personal Background
| Out of high school I enlisted in the Coast Guard and sailed the world aboard the Eagle, America's Tall Ship. After my time in the military I had a brief career as a merchant mariner on tugs and tankers in New York Harbor. Eventually, I left the sea for a post-and-beam apprenticeship at Brownfield, Maine's Fox Maple School of Traditional Building. In 2003 I earned a BA in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Forestry from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Three years later, I completed my graduate work at the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. After grad school I bought a fine team of Suffolk mares and completed the Healing Harvest Forest Foundation Apprenticeship Program. Since that time, I have been providing my clients with the best in forest ecosystem management. |
